This morning we celebrated the success of our Year 11 students as they received their much-anticipated GCSE results.

Almost half of all students achieved a strong pass in both English and maths (Grade 5), with just under two thirds of students achieving a good pass in both English and maths (Grade 4).

We are proud of all of our students for their personal achievements and as always, there were some stand-out top performances, including:

  • Louis Cutler who achieved eight Grade 9s and one Grade 7.
  •  Georgia Calvert who earned four Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and 3 Grade 7s.
  •  Samuel Kingsley who secured three Grade 9s, three Grade 8s.
  •  Jasmine Tyerman who achieved one Grade 9, five Grade 8s, two Grade 7s, one Grade 6

Special recognition must also go to Neve Wilkinson, Jamie Pentland and Emily Bramwell who all achieved at least one or two (and in some cases three!) grades higher than their predictions in most subjects!

Speaking of her delight at the results, Head of School, Kate Morris, commented:

“As a school we are delighted with this year’s GCSE results and we are all extremely proud of our students’ achievements. This year, we have a record number of students moving on to further education in Sixth Forms across the North East which is representative of the hard work shown by all of our students this year.

I would like to recognise the hard work and commitment of all of our teaching and support staff who work tirelessly day in, day out to ensure our students receive the best possible education to achieve their potential and open doors for their futures. We wish all of our students the very best in their Post 16 pursuits. Well done everyone.”

Lesley Powell, Chief Executive of the North East Learning Trust, added:

“With the school having recently joined the Trust, I am delighted to be able to congratulate Biddick Academy’s students on their hard work and achievements. I’d also like to thank staff who work incredibly hard to ensure that children do well in their exams.”
